5 Gate-Crash Activities Ideas To Put Your Future Husband’s Love To The Test

Dear future husband, please prove your love at the gatecrash

If you were born and raised in Singapore, you would have heard stories of how the groom’s love for the bride is being tested at gatecrashes. From giving ang bao to kissing goldfishes to consuming a “deadly” concoction, the ways to put the groom’s love to the test are endless! In this article, we unveil 5 gatecrash ideas that promise laughter and unforgettable memories.

#1 Paint The Bride

Get the groom and his fellow groomsmen to unlock their inner Picasso as they attempt to do a painting of the lovely bride-to-be but with a catch!

How To Play:

Participants have to paint a picture of the bride chosen by the bridesmaids but the groom and groomsmen can only use their mouths to hold the paintbrushes, and they would have only 10 minutes to paint a picture.

What To Prepare:

  • Photo of the bride (chosen by the bridesmaids)
  • Canvas
  • Paintbrushes
  • Paint

We won’t expect A+ work from this challenge, but whether or not it is considered a pass, is completely up to the bridesmaids.

#2 Memory Test: Bride Trivia
5 Gate-Crash Activities Ideas To Put Your Future Husband’s Love To The Test

Although we promised novel ideas, this is a classic gatecrash activity that cannot be missed, and for a good reason — in our opinion, the best way to test the groom’s love is to test the groom’s memories and how much attention he actually spends on the bride.

How To Play:

The groom will be tested on how well he knows the bride. The groom will and can be asked any number of questions and whether or not the groom passes this round, it’s up to the bridesmaids’ decision. Of course, the groomsmen can jump in to help if they remember anything!

Here are some sample questions for your consideration but the general rule of thumb is to get as tricky as possible.

Sample Questions:

  • What was she wearing on your first date?
  • What is her go-to bubble tea brand and order?
  • What is her shoe size?
  • Where was your first kiss?
  • Final task: Complete this sentence: Your money is ____ money; My money is ____  money!
#3 Skipping On Needle Mats

We can’t forget some physical activities to prove the groom’s love. Inspired by Korea’s hit reality show, Running Man, we have skipping on needle mats!

How To Play:

Each of the groomsmen and the groom himself must do a skipping routine on needle mats (aka acupressure mats) barefooted.

To complete this game, each participant will have to complete a total of XX number of skips on the needle mats. Of course, if this seems too easy you can always up the challenge by demanding each participant to skip with different techniques or even together.

Remember, if anyone stops skipping or the skipping is not in sync, they will need to restart the whole routine.

What To Prepare:

  • Needle Mats
  • Skipping Ropes

#4 Sing a Song

The groom will sing a song for the bride, but with a twist! He has to guess what her favourite song is and sing it to her. If he sings the wrong song, he won’t be able to proceed to the next activity and his groomsmen will have to suffer a punishment such as waxing of arms and legs.

How To Play:

Simply get the groom to guess the song and if he sings wrongly, choose one of his groomsmen to wax. Repeat until he gets the right song! FYI, depending on the bridesmaid’s preference, the groom doesn’t need to sing the whole song just the first verse or the chorus – or whatever is your preference.

What To Prepare:

  • Tons of wax
  • Speaker (for music)
  • Camera for recording
#5 Saying Wedding Vows

Although this is not a game, it is a great idea to get the groom to make promises to the bride on their big day.

How To Play:

The bride could come up with a set of promises that she hopes the groom to hold and put it down in a nicely written “contract” for the groom to sign. Alternatively, the groom could also be asked to prepare these vows and promises before the gatecrash and voice it out loud for the bride to hear.

Whichever your preference is, just get creative with it and make sure the vows are doable for the groom as well, we do not want empty promises at the end of the day! To make it fun, make the groom do something as an act of promise. For instance, we thought the groom could delete his favourite game account and sign the contract!

Hopefully, this list can help make your gatecrash a more meaningful, fun, and memorable experience. Regardless of your choice of game, remember that you should not be crossing the line. It is still important to respect the groom and his groomsmen. Knowing their limit is key and if it helps, consult with the bride to get her opinion and thoughts.
